What will you see
in our kindergarten class?
Kindergarten
is a place
for five year olds to be five. You’ll
see learning
happening amidst the sand table, the block corner, the home living
corner,
the reading area and at the lego table.
We will be
learning through our play! You
will hear us reading
together and see us writing together.
During these happenings, we will be working on improving
cooperation and social skills.
You won’t see lots of paperwork in Thursday folders as our
work is active
and hands on.
Here’s our typical daily schedule for our class:
·
Large
Group Calendar
and Literacy Time
·
Centers
and small
groups
·
Math/Science
Time
·
PE/Music
·
Shared
Reading/Writing/Story
Time
What can you do at
home to help your child at school?
Here
are two tips that
will help your child transition into the school year and reinforce
literacy
development:
·
Read
with your
child just 10 minutes every night.
Ask your child
to tell you about the pictures in the story.
Show
your child you are interested in reading. Reading allows a child to
learn
about his/her own world. Your
involvement at home
will help build a positive attitude toward reading.
·
Work
together
on the Homework Folder that is send home on Monday. Complete the math
and literacy activities together with your child and place the finished
papers in the folder. Return the homework folder on Friday.
