Safe Search Engines Google is a very popular search engine that uses link popularity as a primary way to rank websites.  But Google is a HUGE search engine which means it brings back HUGE results, including some that are not appropriate and companies who pay Google get a better spot in their search results.  The following search engines are a little more academic in nature so you may find them to be more helpful with homework assignments.

Homework Resources These are all good resources for class assignments although some sites might need passwords for home access.  If it's a Norman Public Library site, the password is your NPL library card number.  If it's an Alcott/Norman Public Schools password, the district mails passwords to all Alcott students every year but if you've lost your password list, just ask Mrs. Goldsberry for another copy of them.

Norman Public Schools Library Media Program Mission

The mission of the Norman Public School Library Media Program is to create lifelong readers who are effective and efficient consumers of information and knowledge. To accomplish this mission:

· Library media specialists work collaboratively with teachers and others to integrate information literacy skills with classroom content.

· Library media programs provide intellectual and physical access to materials in a variety of formats.

· A partnership is essential to the success of this mission. It requires the active involvement and support of the administration, teachers, and school community.
