Welcome to Lakeview!
Welcome to Lakeview and to the 2009-2010
School year! Families are very
important at Lakeview. We hope
you stay informed about events through our Website and information sent home
in the Thursday Folders. We
also hope you support your child’s participation in school activities.
The best predictor of a child’s school success is your
involvement in thier school experience.
A Key to your child’s success: We
are responsible for teaching your child, however it is difficult to do our job if your child is absent or tardy.
Learning builds day by day. A
child who misses a day of school misses a day of learning.
Children can copy notes or make up an assignment, but they can
never get back what’s most important:
the discussions, the questions, the explanations by the teacher and
the thinking that makes learning come alive.
Children who are tardy also are interrupting their learning and the
learning of others in the classroom as they walk in after the class has
begun. Please arrange
appointments and trips on days we are not in school or after school is
dismissed. However, if your
child is sick with a fever or vomiting, please keep them home.
We have many improvements at our school. We
have an updated fire alarm system and security cameras that have been
installed throughout the building. These
improvements are due to your support of the 2007 bond issue.
Lakeview Elementary and
Norman
Public Schools
thank you.
Thank you for attending our
Back-to-School Night. We had a
huge turn-out. Our next event
will be “Curriculum Night” on September 8th at 6:00 p.m.,
with the PTA meeting beginning at 7:00 p.m. Grandparents day will be Friday, September 11th during Live at Lakeview.
We look forward to working with
you and your child this year.
Respectfully,
Paula
